Our Group Story | Book Bazaar!

Well, it's clear that while Wickerfolk and Dragons were neck and neck for a time, Wickerfolk took over the poll. So our stretch goal story from $8,000 is taking us on a journey with our friendly constructed buddy.

In the earlier days of development, this very nearly fantasy world explored a broad variety of folklore peoples from the real world. Then, I'd just say these are golems. But there's something special about not purchasing into a singular myth. The vampires of this world are Moth Children, combining various pieces of vampire folklore into beings that drink blood and collect moths to maintain their immortality.

In this way, you could find the Jewish story of the golem here among the wickerfolk, but you might also find the ents, living and walking trees. Wickerfolk have come to exist from many worlds of culture, been made for purposes, been made to be alive, been born from the woods. But now, we get to meet one for ourselves.

So the new poll asks us what the wickerfolk might experience ahead in our story. Vote carefully, while I am happy to make any of my characters have hard times, if you take part in the democratic process here and push our new friend into hard times, that will be on your hands! : )

The Book Bazaar

I have been a poor sport, friends. The Book Bazaar is bigger than my project, or even my personal favorite project, GULA. There are a whole host of projects here with us! 22 in total!

And as of this moment, 20 are all funded at their goals or beyond. GULA is one of the two that need a bit of help yet, but it's clear that Elliott's poem is going to get that funding in the next 40ish hours! So congrats.

But there is one project yet that could use your help!

This fantasy book, The Primal Rift, can use some help coming to life still! It's the third book in the series, and you can get the first time in the project as well, as well as some sticker packs and D&D character sheets for the main cast! That's a pretty fun thing to get, I think!
Keep in mind the project is in Canadian dollars, so you're paying less than you think with the pledge level prices!

And while Aimee's project is funded, I have to shout out Aimee Cozza's The Lucky Machine! This project is lovely and gorgeous, Aimee is an incredible writer and artist and puts polish on everything she touches.

Beyond it being an incredible looking book, Aimee has managed this whole Book Bazaar from an administrative level almost on her own. We've all chipped in a bunch of ways, but no one has done what Aimee has to make this possible and unfold so beautifully. So go back because the work is amazing, but also because you want to say thank you for bringing together this gaggle of authors and making this all work!

Alright, see you soon for the approaching end of our delightful Bazaar!

Our Group Story | Other Book Bazaar Projects!

Alrighty, it looks like the answer is fairly clear already. For a brief moment, the top two answers were tied, but that split quickly. People want to see a new entity! So I have a new poll attached here where we can take a look at a new kind of person. And if you feel like you want something else, share it in the comments!

I also added a $2 add-on that's just the tarot cards, for people who were getting ebooks but want the darned cards! I figure that's the easiest way to make it available. Still not sharing who the cards will show just yet, but stay tuned. We have a few months to share info on the collection before we ship in Feb/March next year.

And I want to spotlight one of the three projects in the Book Bazaar who haven't quite funded yet in this update! GULA is a longform poem that's a response to The Wasteland by TS Eliot. This is a special project to me because it's poetry, and a portion of the funds raised are to be a donation.

If the physical book is a little costly for ya with shipping, consider backing Elliott's project at the ebook tier. And to give you an additional reason, I'm giving a $15 tier here on this project for our paperback and ebook, so long as you've backed GULA for at least the $7 ebook!

Yes, you hear right, you can save money on this project by splitting your pledge between here and GULA, and you'll get more stuff! Grab the $15 tier here for what would normally be $25, and grab the $7 GULA ebook (or the paperback of GULA, or the bigger bundle!) and you end up with $22 spent for more than you were getting at $25. I will check you against Elliott's backer list so don't try to be sneaky, friends!

So go take a look at GULA my friends, consider splitting your pledge and getting a discount, and don't forget to vote in the poll for our group-led story!

Thanks y'all,

$8000 Stretch Goal Broken! | One Week | What Next?!
4 months ago – Wed, Nov 26, 2025 at 01:16:49 PM

Hello my dear readers,

Last night, just before I stopped working for the day, I saw we ticked over $8000! So now I have to fess up, I had no idea what that might mean for the project. Gosh, what more can we add, without turning this book into a tarot booster pack of its own?

Okay, maybe I had an idea of what this might become. But I don't want this to be a tarot booster pack project that so happens to include my writing on the side. I want this to be a fun writing project. So we're leaving our tarot card count at just 2, promise. (They come inside your anthology, not separate. And yes, they're free.)

No, instead we're exploring something else. A story that I am going to, more or less, live-write in updates with you. Help me out here, what is our focus for this story? Should this be another Alleyman tale where he visits on someone to share something they need to hear? Or is this about a new character, or creature, entirely?

Take a vote in the poll and help us decide.

And let's make this final week count! Afterall, if $8k was a group story, what could the $10,000 stretch goal be?

Thanks,
7DA

The Alleyman Approaches!

Oh yes my friends, that is an early sketch of our Tales From the Alley cover by Reid Aster! This dynamic and gorgeous book cover is going to be so delightful-- I've been on a roll lately having my standalone books illustrated by Reid lately. But can you blame me? Reid did both of these poetry collection covers just a year ago!

So maybe I'll bug Reid for future ones too, keep them all looking as lovely as one another!

We are talking about the tarot cards as well, but I may work with other artists for the tarot card designs. I like to mix those up after all!

Talk again shortly friends,

What Are These Other Books, Pt 2
4 months ago – Thu, Nov 20, 2025 at 02:34:54 PM

Hello again,

Tuesday, I shared some stuff about the smaller, newer poetry books available on the campaign as add-ons. This time, I want to share some info on these behemoths! So if you missed the smaller books, go take a look at that update!

Every Day in Love: Love's Dead The Complete Collection

This book is 600 pages of poetry. It collects the three poetry collections of the Every Day in Love series, my love letter to horror movies, under one super huge, pink cover. I began this collection in 2013 during grad school, writing the first book by taking scripts from Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street, drawing shapes on them, finding words that intersected with the shapes corners or edges, and inputting the words into google. That determined the core theme or focus of the poem.

I marry Freddy Krueger and Pinhead, and we adopt Jason Voorhees. Yeah, it's domestic horror, humor, and poetry, baby!

The first book was very artsy, abstract. There were script-style long poems where we heckled their own movies, but the smaller poems tended to be more art than story-telling. The second book, which came years later and heralded the adoption of Sammy from Trick r Treat and Samara from The Ring, became the opposite, more of a sitcom style episodic nature, with less focus on the highfalutin poetics. The third book saw Jason move out and Billy (and Chucky) move in with us. This final book became more a mix of the first two books, exploring how such a story could end.

This Map is Just a Suggestion

This is a 500 page collection of selected and edited works from the first 15 years of my poetic career. It contains both poems that are in While Widening the Wound, but a pre-final edit version of the second poem. I also feel that While Widening the Wound holds the two poems together in a way more respectful to them, rather than being lost in the giant tome.

This looked at the previous 12+ books of poetry I'd written and found chunks of each one to come to the modern day. You'll get work from 2010 in here, then work all the way up to a couple years ago, as well as a new piece at the end of it. It's huge, it has an MRI of my actual brain on the cover, and it covers so much of my poetic career. Other than the two poems of While Widening the Wound, this book does not overlap with anything else offered on this project.

Together with the 600 page Every Day in Love book, this represents a vast period of my poetic career. 1100 pages... So maybe I write a lot! So it goes.

Thanks for joining me friends,
See you soon!
